Primary Schools enter teams into this competition, so contact your school sports co-ordinator now!
School Football Rules:
- The games will be 30 minutes long (FC Nelson co-ordinator at the control area will signal the start and end with the hooter)
- Kids wear the school uniform where available.
- We aim for an even 5v5 game but if numbers are low or one team is quite a bit stronger then the other, feel free to amend numbers to even out the game. That could mean putting an extra player in the weaker team or giving the strongest player(s) special tasks, i.e. only 3 touches of the ball or passing to teammates instead of scoring etc. The goal is plenty of touches on the ball for everyone.
- Rotate players taking the first kick, or rotate players who receive the first pass to get everyone involved.
- When the ball goes out over the sideline, we kick the ball in instead of throwing it in, which should make it easier for everyone. Please have the opponent team drop off to allow for an easy first pass back into play. The team kicking in should be encouraged to spread out to create passing options (not bunch up).
- Balls and bibs are available at the control hub for anyone who might need these.
- FC Nelson will not provide referees for the game, parents are asked to follow the games and the teams.
