Hi everyone! 

The season is fast approaching, and we have plenty happening at FC. Following our committee meeting last night and with New Zealand Football Women’s Month in full swing, we wanted to update you on female football at the club.

At the end of 2023, our women’s team faced challenges as many senior players and their coach departed. With young talent also being drawn elsewhere, it looked uncertain whether we could field female teams. However, thanks to immense effort, passion, and perseverance from Neil Benson, Cindy Rigg, Helena Glover, Manuel Montagna and some of our Womens players we have seen a remarkable turnaround.

Our youngest team, the Pandas (ages 8-11), made their debut last year, bravely competing in the boys’ 9th-grade league. Their skill and determination were inspiring. Now, Wednesday night training sees close to 20 young girls, and numbers continue to grow! We are even forming a second Panda team and need volunteers and new players.

Above all, our goal is for these girls to love football and continue playing for years to come. We thank everyone who has supported this journey and ask for your help in growing the game.
