1st Division
FCN vs College 0-0

On our first "Club Day" we looked to continue our Top of the table league performance & were met with resilience from our younger neighbours Nelson College.
With the majority of possession & our chances not taken, we looked to find our attacking edge in the 2nd half with no score from both teams at the break.
This frustrating game was matched with some enterprising attacks however the College defence were able to extinguish our efforts. A result was looking likely again, however guilt edge chances were not taken & College nearly made us pay for our uncharacteristic efforts in the attacking third.
Feeling like we came off with 3 or 4 goals left on the pitch, we shared the points with Nelson College, who were resolute on defence & great on the counter attack.
A clean sheet & dominant display in possession were the highlights we will take onto next week's game against Wakefield at Guppy Park at 3pm, where we will look to take all the points.

1st Division Women - FCN vs Richmond Foxes 0-3

2nd Division
FCN Loco vs FCN NMIT Reserves 2-1

FC Nelson Locomotive faced off against FC Nelson NMIT in a local derby at Guppy Park. Both teams went into this game unbeaten in a top-of-the-table clash, so it was always going to be an intense encounter. NMIT started best, creating some early chances from some good periods of possession resulting in the first goal of the match. Loco equalised toward the end of the first half through the boot of Bobby Bartlett from a set-piece.
An extended half time break waiting for an Ambulance due to the suspected broken leg of an NMIT player saw the aging bodies of Loco players walk the fine line between the joy of additional recovery time and seized joints from too much time. Fortunately, Loco were able to hit the second half with the intensity and desire befitting of such an important clash to match the younger legs of the NMIT players in what was a stalemate, until Bobby once again turned the ball into the NMIT net from a set-piece. NMIT had chances in the second half, including a shot pinging off the upright, but the rub of the green went Loco’s way to secure a 2-1 win. Loco send their best wishes for a speedy recovery to the NMIT player who broke his leg.

FCN Karenni vs Motueka 2:1

Mot was a big strong team to play against but I thought we played really well as a team, we moved the ball quickly and play as a team as much as possible,
After we went 1-0 down, everyone fought hard all the way to the end and it paid off with a 2-1 win.
We are really happy to get our first win and hopefully we can be better and better for our future games and stay on a winning path.

3rd Division
FCN 3rds vs Richmond Hornbills Res 0-2

We had 6 of our regular starters away for the home game v Hornbills on Sat 18th. Due to Francis's connections we managed to turn out a reasonable looking starting 11 and created a few chances early on against a very quick & well organised Hornbills. Nil - Nil at half time although they were making inroads in the last 10 mins before the break.
Not long after the break they got a run away goal, followed by another not long after. We adjusted to make a stronger back line and tried to push for a goal but their pace on the break meant they were still a big threat. Ultimately we weren't quite up to the task today although we gave it all we had.
As an aside, a huge congratulations to Francis and the team for last night's event. The club rooms have never looked so good in the 27 years since I joined Metro. Add to that the music from Billy plus the long mooted bar staff (other than ourselves), meant for a really great evening. Well done to all and hopefully the first of many more to come.

4th Division
FCN Masters vs Tahuna 5:0

Masters beat Tahuna 5-0 in a league/ cup double header, all five goals scored by different players.
