Senior mens football
Its exciting times as the new winter season is fast approaching. Paul Brydon's' mens 1st division team has commenced training and first indications are really good with big numbers at training last night. The Thursday nights session at 6pm at Guppy park is also being supplemented with specific fitness sessions on Saturday mornings at 8.30am and also 5.45 on Tuesday evening (also at Guppy Park) with Arnie Raddock.
The club will also be much stronger in the Men’s 2nd Division this year as plans are to form a combined FC Reserves / Loco team. This team will have a strong focus on developing players to press on and compete in the 1st Division The team will be coached by our new Director of Football Gary Calderbank commencing next Thursday (17th Feb). Any players wanting to play 1st and 2nds are welcome to come and train at any of these sessions.
The amalgamation of the 2nd division teams means more competition for places at this level but also a strengthening of our 3rd team squad and will create a defined pathway for player development. Please register with the club early and additional teams in the 3rd and 2nd Division will be formed based on numbers and player standards. Our Masters team has again put together a strong squad and will look to defend their League title this year.
Pick the Best Beers
The main news of course is that The New Street Steakhouse (formerly the Waka) will be putting on a beer tasting experience for the Seniors (men and women’s teams) after training this coming Thursday (17th). This is to allow us to sample and select the beers we want for the Victory Club house this season. Come down to training and then on for a refreshing ale afterwards.
